Frozen Hot Chocolate (Total Time: 5 minutes, Serves: 1)

Things are starting to heat up here in Seattle (a whopping 65 degrees!) so I thought it was time a whip up a frozen drink recipe. I’m never not in the mood for chocolate, so obviously a frozen hot chocolate seemed to be the right move. This recipe is completely dairy free, unless you decide to use a hot chocolate powder that has powdered milk. I added a banana to this recipe for a little extra sweetness and substance, and for my nut milk of choice I used macadamia nut milk, but any milk will do. If you’re in the mood for a pick me up, you can swap out half of the milk for coffee, or add a scoop of protein powder for those extra gains. I topped mine with a little extra dark chocolate drizzle, and a scoop of coconut whipped cream. Feel free to go crazy with the toppings, or leave it simple and plain!

Ingredients:

1 frozen banana (about 6-7 frozen slices)

1/3 cup frozen nut milk (freeze in an ice cube tray, or lined Tupperware container)

1/3 cup nut milk or coffee

2 tbsp Coconut Cloud vegan hot chocolate powder, or other hot chocolate powder of your choice

1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Optional toppings: coconut whipped cream, dark chocolate drizzle, peanut butter

Directions:

1: If you don’t keep frozen nut milk cubes on hand (like most normal people) freeze 1/3 cup of your nut milk in an ice cube tray. If you don’t have and ice cube tray, you can freeze it in a Tupperware container. If you don’t already have frozen bananas, slice one up and throw it in the freezer as well.

2: Once your milk and banana have been freezing for at least an hour, add these to a blender with the rest of your ingredients. Blend well until no frozen chunks remain.

3: Add your favorite toppings and enjoy!
